They are used within fixed body vehicles and trailers fitted with standard 25mm hole tracks. The two main designs for shoring bars are round and square, but both are made with an adjustable range of about 400mm. This means they can be adjusted to fit various fixed body vehicles. The bars are easily located between the internal tracks and secured firmly in place to prevent loads moving around in transit. This can prevent load damage and danger to drivers and other road users when on the move.

The spring loaded design means that they can provide secure travel even if fixed body walls flex, making them especially durable and tough for moving large or heavy objects. Spring loaded shoring bars come in a variety of lengths to suit almost any size of vehicle. These sizes include 0.9 to 1.3 metres, 1.3 to 1.7 metres, 1.7 to 2.1 metres, 2.1 to 2.5 metres and the largest size of 2.5 to 2.9 metres. So, as you can see, spring loaded shoring bars are very versatile.

The length of the bars extend from the face of the track on one side to the face on the other, and be safely secured in the 25mm peg holes, while still retaining some spring loaded action in case of flex.

The shoring bars should be used when transporting any loads in vehicles, either secured to the vehicle sides or using the 25mm hole tracks. They are secured in place to prevent moving or falling, causing damage to the goods or persons moving them. It is very important that you ensure all bars are secured before setting off so that loads are not able to move around.

As well as the size of your vehicle determining the size of the shoring bars that you need, you also need to know the weight of the load that you’re transporting. This is so you can determine the force of the load when in transit and use an appropriate number of shoring bars.

The safe working load limit, known as the WLL, for any shoring bar is 460 kg. This weight is spread evenly along the bar. So, once you have determined the weight of your load, you need to make sure you have a greater amount of securing capacity than weight in order for a secure transportation. It’s always a good idea to use shoring bars in pairs, whenever they are used, for additional security.
