Ratchet cargo bars also sometimes known as cargo stay bars are high strength and durable designed for securing loads in box type vehicles, trailers, vans and ISO containers during transit. 

We recommend using cargo bars with ratcheting handle when transporting loads when there is a risk of goods moving or falling. It is vital to make sure that any cargo stay bars you’re using are secure before you set off. Failure to do so could result in damage to goods.

Weight capacity of cargo stay bars

One of the most important things to consider is the weight of the load when you’re using a cargo stay bar. You’ll need to have a rough idea of how much your cargo weighs and use a suitable type and number of bars to secure it. The safe working load limit (WLL) on aluminium cargo stay bars is 600kg spread equally across the load. Our heavy duty steel cargo stay bars have a 1000kg load limit spread equally across bar. To safely secure a load, the combined WLL must be greater than the weight of the load itself. It’s always recommended to use bars in pairs depending on where the load in located.

Length of bars

The cargo stay bar needs to be long enough to reach from one side of the vehicle or trailer to the opposite side or floor to ceiling to safely secure it for use. Bespoke length cargo stay bars are available upon request.
